SCG Thailand Open

Shortly after the Sudirman Cup the SCG Thailand Open were held in Bangkok from the 30th May to 4th June.

Some VICTOR player used the short distance from Australia to play this tournament in the category "Grand Prix Gold" to get some important points for the world rankings.

Joo Ven Soong from Malaysia reached the semi final in the men's singles. The VICTOR player could win over Marc Zwiebler, the only German player in this competition, in the 3rd round. Joo Veng Soon played against the Indonesian Jonathan Christie in the semi final but he lost with 19-21 11-21. Finally he was very happy about the win of the bronze medal.

Our top player Marvin Seidel played two competitions. The fully equipped VICTOR player reached the 3rd place with his partner Mark Lamsfuss in the men's doubles. They had to play against Raphael Beck and Peter Käsbauer, like in the final of the German Championships 2017, where Seidel injured his foot. This match was also very hard and close and was played over the full distance. Finally Beck and Käsbauer could win again with 21-19 in the 3rd game to reach the final.

In the competition mixed doubles Seidel played with his partner Linda Efler. The German VICTOR double could win two very hard preliminary matches but were stopped in the quarter final. They left some forces and sadly lost to the Chinese He Jiting and Du Yue with 19-21 12-21.

But the mixed double with Goh Soon Huat and Shovon Jemie Lai from Malaysia could get into the final. They played also against the Chinese He Jiting and Du Yue, but the Chinese had a run and beat Gooh Son Huat and Shovon Jemie Lai, who finally won the silver medal.

We congratulate our players to these great results.
