Squash: German Championship 2017
The German Championship were held in the Sportwerk Hamburg from the 16th to 19th February.
Raphael Kandra was again preferred to depose the record champion Simon Rösner.
Raphael Kandra, fully equipped by VICTOR, played decisively and won his preliminaries games safely. In the quarter final his opponent Valentin Rapp from Stuttgart never had a chance and Raphael won in a really short-time, impressively with 11-4 11-2 11-3.
In the semi final he played against his long-time rival Jens Schoor from Worms again. Raphael showed already a few times in the current season that he is the dominating player. After a struggling beginning Raphael found his form and beat Jens Schoor with 15-13 8-11 11-3 11-6 to reach the final.
His club-mate and the record champion Simon Rösner was again waiting in the final. Raphael started the match very concentrated and focused and could win the tough first game. But Simon Rösner arose himself to the game of Raphael and showed his class why he is currently a top 10 player of the world. The VICTORian tried everything to resist, but finally Simon Rösner won his 11th title with 10-12 11-6 11-3 11-7.
We congratulate Raphael to the silver medal and look forward to his upcoming matches.
