Team VICTOR scoops two titles at India Open Superseries

A great week of badminton ended with VICTOR sponsored players winning two of the five titles available at the India Open Superseries event. Young Korean star Shon Wan Ho (Meteor X80) pulled off a remarkable victory against current world number one Lee Chong Wei from Malaysia while Korean sixth seeds Jung Kyung Eun (Bravesword 11) and Kim Ha Na (Bravesword 11) overcame the Chinese pairing of Bao Yixin & Zhong Qianxin to win the women's doubles title. In the men's singles event Shon Wan Ho had been on great form all week and had already beaten the number two seed, Peter Gade from Denmark in the quarter-finals, and home favourite Kashyap Parupalli in the semi-final to earn his final placing against the Malaysian top seed. And he showed no nerves against the top seed as he matched him shot for shot throughout the entire match. In the first game the Korean showed some outstanding defence as well as deft touch around the net and eventually won the opening game 21-18. As expected Lee Chong Wei fought back in the second taking it 14-21 to set up an interesting final game. Shon reached the mid-game interval ahead and opened up a five-point cushion before the number one seed won six straight points to take the lead. but the Korean never lost his nerve and went on to win the match 21-18 14-21 21-19 and win his first Superseries title. It was more comfortable in the women's doubles for Jung Kyung Eun and Kim Ha Na who themselves had had been on great form all week, the toughest match coming in the form of Japanese duo and second seeds Mizuki Fujii and Reika Kakiiwa in the semi-final. In search of their first Superseries event the Korean's settled in to their rhythm early with Kim Ha Na dominating the front court and Jung Kyung Eun creating opportunities for the net kill from the back. and this formation proved too strong for the young chinese pair and the Korean's won the match 21-18 21-17.
