VICTOR's Lee Yong Dae & Jung Jae Sung win the All England Championships 2012
11 March 2012, Birmingham – a fantastic week of badminton ended in elation for the VICTOR sponsored Korean Men's Doubles pairing of Lee Yong Dae (Bravesword LYD) and Jung Jae Sung (Meteor X80) as they beat close rivals Cai Yun and Fu Haifeng from China in the final of the All England Championships. The VICTOR pairing had grown in strength throughout the week and didn’t drop a single game en route to the final. In the semi's they faced the highly rated Danish pairing of Carsten Mogensen and Mathias Boe and disposed of them with consummate ease, 21-14 21-13. This set up the dream final with the World Champions from china. The final started in explosive fashion with both pairs keen to stamp their authority on the match. The rallies where fast, and the Chinese adopted an all-out-attack approach, however the resilient defence of the Korean's made it hard for the chinese to ground the shuttle. The first game was tight throughout but it was the Korean's who carved out the first game points. Cai and Fu kept their composure and saved three match points before converting one of their own to take the opening game 23-21. In contrast it was the VICTOR sponsored pair who dominated the second game. Lee Yong Dae was fantastic at the net with Jung Jae Sung creating some great angles with shots from the back of the court. This coupled with their solid defence left the Chinese short of ideas and it wasn’t long before they closed out the second game 21-9. This set up a tantalising final game with many expecting the Chinese to up their game and dominate the early stages. The Korean's however where superb on the day and didn’t let this happen. They played every point as if it where the decisive point, Jung Jae Sung diving and playing the shuttle from the ground on several occasions. Lee Yong Dae dominated the net area and the pair where relentless in their channelled attack. Coupled with superb defence the Chinese had no answer on the day with the Korean's taking the title 21-23 21-9 21-14. This was the Korean's second All England Men's Doubles title and more importantly it was another psychological boost over their closest rivals ahead of this summer's Olympic games in London.
