With 17:21, 21:15 and 21:16 Juliane defeated the No.2 worldwide Wang Ling from China, and fought herself into the finals of the German Open. In an absolutely highclass match she lost the finals against Wang Xin with 17:21 and 18:21. "This was a great tournament for me, and it was so much fun" said Juliane to the press after the match.

Since 1966 no German player made it to the top in woman singles, but Juliane was extremly close this year. The atmosphere in the RWE stadium was however absolutely stunning, 2000 peolple came to watch the match, and the stadium was fully booked.
